The Society is a founder member of the Cumbria County History Trust, which is the charity which seeks to provide the resources and organisation for progressing the Victoria County History for Cumbria.
This page contains source material for both the Jubilee Digests and the VCH Histories which has been collected by group members, mostly by extraction from published and archival sources. The source material has been organised by the ancient townships or parishes which are the VCH places within or close to the area which is of principal interest to our Society.
The documents below provided material for creating the Jubilee digests and the histories for the VCH project in the 'parishes' covered by L&DFLHS. These are BLIndbothel, BRAckenthwaite, BRIgham, BUTtermere, DEAn, EAGlesfield, EMBleton, GREysothen, LORton, LOWeswater, MOSser, SETmurthy, WHInfell, WYThop. Dean contains three townships.
The maps of the boundaries of these VCH places, taken from the first series Ordnance Survey map of the 1860s, appear as M003 to M008 (these are large files)
